The Owner’s Manual: A Podcast for Parents

The Owner’s Manual travels to Danville to interview "Dr. Ozzie" a pediatric dentist and founder of The Flourish Airway Collective.  We have an in-depth discussion about the pediatric airway and how early intervention can allow proper growth of the jaw and help prevent orthodontic, speech and airway issues later in childhood.  In addition, Pediatric Fun Facts continues and explores neuropsychiatric conditions that can be triggered by Group A Strep and other infections.

The Owner's Manual travels to Golden Gate Sleep Centers in San Ramon, CA to interview Puja Thakkar, DO the founder and director.  We discuss how a sleep specialist diagnoses and treats sleep disorders and how sleep problems may present in children who might not seem to have a problem with sleep.  We also continue our segment "Pediatric Fun Facts" with a discussion of newborn pooping and how that can change.  In addition a listener calls in with a question about "tongue tie."

After a 5 year hiatus, we are back for our 2nd season! I travelled to Oakland, California to meet the team at Cranial Technologies to discuss how they help fix babies with mis-shapen heads.  We also bring back "Pediatric Fun Facts" with a discussion about Febrile Seizures in children.

In this episode, Marianne Borden joins me again to continue our series "Pediatric Potpourri" where we discuss several common illnesses that parents will experience with their children.  In today's show, we delve into Hand, Foot and Mouth Syndrome, Croup, and RSV.  We talk about what to look for, what to do, and when a visit to the child's doctor might be needed.
